John Andrew Nugent passed away on Thursday December 31 at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital in Melrose after a short illness. He was 93 years old. Born in Medford, Mr. Nugent was a longtime Malden resident. He was the husband of the late Alba (Angelli) Nugent who passed away in the early 1970's. He later married Ruth McDermott who predeceased him in 2007. John was a Veteran of World War II Serving in the US Navy from 1943-1945. He retired many years ago from General Electric as a 'Spot Welder' for over 40 years.  He was the Father of Richard Nugent of Everett and leaves three grandchildren Marie, Lori and John as well as three Great grandchildren Tara, Ariana and Lindsey. Funeral from the Leo M. Norton Funeral Home 287 Main St MALDEN SQ on Wed. January 6 at 9am. A Funeral Mass for John will be celebrated on Wednesday January 6  at Sacred Hearts Church Malden (next door to the Funeral Home ) at 10AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visting hours will be held on Tuesday Jan. 5 from 4 - 7pm at the Funeral Home. Interment will follow the Funeral Mass at ForestDale Cemetery Malden.
