Richard Hallahan a longtime resident of Malden, passed away on Sunday January 24 after a lengthy period of declining health. He was 81 years of age. Born raised and educated in Melrose, Mr. Hallahan was the husband of the late Isabelle (Dailey) Hallahan. He was the father of six children Richard of Indiana, Kathleen of Malden, Joseph of Medford, Sean of Malden, Michael of Indiana, and Robert of East Wakefield, NH. He leaves two sisters Marjorie Cornett of Portland,OR., Nancy Graglia of MA. and a brother William of Plaistow,NH. He was the grandfather of 15 ; William, Kathleen,Maggie,Christina,Sarah,Lauren,Joseph,David,Timothy,Alison,Katie,Justin,Daniel,Sean,and Briana and great grandfather of 8. Richard was a retired Machinest from Schrafts Candy Company in Charlestown where he spent a lengthy career. He was a World War II Veteran serving during the occupation of Japan with the US Army. A Funeral Mass for Richard will be celebrated on Saturday January 30 at 11Am at the Sacred Hearts Church (next door to Funeral Home ) with vistitation being held prior to the Mass at Norton Funeral Home 287 Main St Malden from 8am. In lieu of flowers donations in Richard's memory may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital P.O.Box 50 Memphis,TN 38101
